Internships
The American Symphony Orchestra offers semester-long and summer internships to qualified students in the areas of Marketing and Development. If you are interested in applying, please read the following description, qualifications, and application procedure.
Led by Music Director Leon Botstein, the American Symphony Orchestra strives to expand audiences for the orchestral music field by presenting rarely performed masterworks in concert. As part of the Lincoln Center Presents Great Performers series, the Orchestra performs thematically organized concerts at Avery Fisher Hall, linking music to the visual arts, literature, politics, and history, often in collaboration with museums and other cultural institutions. In addition to its series at Lincoln Center, the Orchestra presents Classics Declassified, an innovative lecture/concert series at Miller Theatre, Columbia University. As resident orchestra of the Richard B. Fisher Center for the Performing Arts, the Orchestra performs to capacity audiences in an accessible six-concert series. The Orchestra also maintains partnership with nine area schools as part of its music education program, Music Notes. Through its Community Access Program, the Orchestra has provided over 40,000 area residents with free and/or discounted admission to its concerts in New York City as well as complimentary educational services and materials. In addition, the Orchestra maintains an active recording schedule of rarely performed masterworks in an effort to introduce fresh, interesting music into the standard repertoire.
