Classics Declassified
This season, the American Symphony Orchestra celebrates the tenth anniversary of its hit Classics Declassified series with a move to Peter Norton Symphony Space – one of Manhattan’s most contemporary concert venues. As always, Leon Botstein and members of the American Symphony Orchestra will set out to explore masterworks in this series of informal, three-part Sunday matinee concerts:
- Leon Botstein and the Orchestra discuss the composer and the work, illustrating in music how each masterpiece came to be written.
- After a brief intermission, the work is performed in its entirety. You’ll experience the music with fresh insight and understanding.
- Following the performance, share your questions and comments with Maestro Botstein and the Orchestra in a special post-concert discussion.
The concerts of the 2007-2008 season will focus on Dvorák's, Symphony No. 9, Copland's, Symphony No. 3 , and Sibelius's Violin Concerto in D minor
